The 4,000-square-foot space is located in suite 1503 of showroom building 230 Fifth Avenue.

ppeared from the home textiles map, we went looking for a new home in New York City,” explained Satya Tiwari, president. “We’re excited to be now at 230 with a permanent space.”

In line with market week’s mass merchant focus, Surya will be launching a bevy of new performance-driven area rugs that boast machine-washability and resistance to staining and fading.

Part of that performance focus includes sustainability.

“We have a lot of products that are made of fibers derived from recycled plastic bottles,” he explained.

This year marks Surya’s third year in the washable area and accent rug category.

“It’s very mass merchant driven – it is not high end and not for e-commerce,” Tiwari noted. “It’s more promotional but with high perceived value, meaning great design, great texture, great hand, and easy care.”

Also with mass merchant customers in mind, Surya is presenting these new lines for roll out to stores in 2024.

“We are working ahead with our mass merchant customers, planning ahead with them on their calendars to meet their needs,” he said. “For some companies it can be hard to plan so far in advance. Bur at Surya, we are versatile. We specialize in working in advance. We are highly diversified in our approach because we are a global company.”
